What to Expect

Prepare for Your Lesson

Come Dressed to Jump In

Your child should wear/bring a swimsuit and a towel. Shoes should stay with the parent. There are locker rooms at the CENTER for changing before and after. At Best Western there is a single-stall bathroom, so it’s better to show up dressed already. Swimmers under 3 years AND those prone to accidents also need to wear a neoprene swim diaper.

Can I Stay and Watch?

In the Fall and Spring, parents are welcome to stay and watch their child’s lessons. In the Summer, when we are at host homes, we ask that you drop off your child so that we don’t clog the neighborhood streets. Exceptions can be made, simply reach out with any questions. For Parent & Me classes, one parent will need to be in the water with the child.

Participation & Progress

Each child will receive a colored wristband for the skill level they are currently. The wristband has 11 numbers that correspond with 11 skills. The instructor will punch a hole in the number of each skill as it is mastered.

You can find a key to the wristband skills here.

    • NOT OK to swim: if your child has a fever, diarrhea, or any type of contagious condition (respiratory, eye (like pink eye), or skin rash, etc.). Please do not bring them to class until your doctor has cleared them to continue with physical activity.
    • PLEASE AVOID milk, dairy products, spicy foods, and large meals before lessons. Children may have a light snack before swimming.
    • Please remove all band-aids before entering the pool, long hair pulled back, and keep your child’s nails trimmed.
    • In the interest of the health and safety of all students in our program, SKW requires all swimmers under the age of 3 AND children who are not fully potty trained and prone to accidents to wear a NEOPRENE swim diaper. Your child may wear just one of these, since they are very effective. We’ll have Swim Kids Waco swim diapers available for purchase at your lessons for $21 plus tax, unless you have your own already. Your child will not be allowed to enter the pool if the diaper policy is not followed.
    • If a child has a fecal accident and was not wearing both swim diapers, you will be permanently excused from the program and no refund or credit will be given for remaining lessons.

  • Fees
    • To secure your class request, payment can be made with a credit card, check or cash. Credit card is recommended for quickest payment and spot reservation. SPACES WILL NOT BE HELD WITHOUT THIS PAYMENT. NO spaces are guaranteed until you register online with a valid credit card and receive an email confirming that you have enrolled in a class. If you’d like to pay by cash or check, email us and we can arrange for that. We will hold your child’s spot for 48 hours if you email us or leave a comment below to let us know how you plan to pay.
    • For summer fast track classes, tuition is collected at registration and is nonrefundable.
    • For summer weekly classes, tuition will be divided into two equal payments. The first payment is collected at registration, and the second payment is collected in June. Both payments are nonrefundable.
    • Swim Kids Waco offers sibling discounts of 7% for each student when multiple are enrolled. We also offer multi-class discounts of 7%. Discounts cannot be combined, so either the sibling or multi-class discount will apply.
  • Cancellation Policy
    • No monetary refunds will be given.
    • If you need to drop a class for some unforeseen reason, you must notify us by email or text at least 15 days before the start of a fast-track session in order to receive credit on your Swim Kids Waco account. That credit can be used toward future tuition fees. If you’re dropping a summer weekly class, you must notify us at least 15 days before the next payment date in order to not be charged for the remaining lessons.
    • We do not encourage switching classes after registering, but if there is a need to change classes, that will be allowed if it is at least 15 days before the class starts and as long as there is an available spot in the correct level of class. If there’s not an available spot, you may be given credit on your Swim Kids Waco account that can be used toward future tuition fees.
    • We reserve the right to combine or cancel any class at any time. In the event that Swim Kids Waco cancels a class, you will not be charged any fees.
    • If at any point we are unable to continue lessons because of government restrictions, you will be given a credit on your Swim Kids Waco account for the number of lessons already paid for but not yet taught.
